Presbyterian Medical Services Athlete of the Week: Haylee Nocki
This week’s Presbyterian Medical Services Athlete of the Week is junior guard Haylee Nocki of the Broncos, who showcased her incredible skills in a standout performance against the top-ranked Gallup Bengals. Haylee’s game-high 21 points, including five clutch three-pointers, were instrumental in leading her team to a critical victory in girls’ 1-4A district play 52-38.
The win vaulted the Broncos into the number one spot in the state for girls 4A basketball, and while it was truly a team effort, Haylee’s sharp shooting in key moments helped stop the Bengals’ momentum and thwart any attempts at a comeback. Her three-pointers came at crucial times, silencing runs by Gallup and putting the Broncos in control when the game was on the line.
Beyond her scoring, Haylee’s defense was exceptional. Her relentless effort on that side of the ball helped the Broncos force over 25 turnovers, keeping Gallup off balance all game long. Haylee’s ability to shut down opponents and generate turnovers was a significant factor in her team’s dominant defensive showing.
Coach Manning had nothing but praise for Haylee’s work ethic and mindset: “Haylee loves to challenge herself and get better each day. She’s a super-focused individual who knows how to compete at the highest level.”
Her dedication to improving and her ability to perform under pressure make her a key asset to the Broncos as they continue their journey towards the postseason. With players like Haylee Nocki leading the way, the Broncos are in a strong position to defend their State title.
