Senior Guard Landon Begay: A Rising Star for Farmington High School Basketball
The Farmington High School Scorpions are off to an impressive 6-2 start this basketball season, and a major contributor to their early success is senior guard Landon Begay. Stepping into the spotlight left by last year’s standout Cody Vassar-Steen, Landon has embraced his new leadership role with poise and determination, becoming a linchpin for his team’s offense.
Landon has been a model of consistency and excellence, leading the Scorpions in multiple categories. He averages an impressive 18 points per game, amassing 145 points on the season so far. His precision at the free-throw line has been vital, shooting a remarkable 80% from the charity stripe. Additionally, his vision and unselfish playmaking ability have been on full display, as he leads the team in assists with 30.

Coach Chitty couldn’t be prouder of his senior guard. “Landon has stepped into a leadership role for us this year and is flourishing,” Chitty shared. “He simply knows how to put the ball in the basket from various places and in various ways, and we really lean on him for that. It’s great to see all the hard work he’s put in paying off.”
Indeed, Landon’s ability to score from anywhere on the court and his knack for creating opportunities for his teammates make him an invaluable asset to the Scorpions. Whether he’s driving to the basket, knocking down mid-range jumpers, or hitting clutch free throws, Landon’s contributions go beyond the stat sheet. His leadership and commitment to the game inspire his teammates to elevate their performance.
As the season progresses, the Scorpions will continue to rely on Landon’s skill and leadership as they aim for greater success. If his current trajectory is any indication, Farmington High School basketball fans have plenty to be excited about this season.
Congratulations to Landon Begay, the Presbyterian Medical Services Athlete of the Week, for his outstanding achievements on and off the court. Keep shining, Landon!
