Presbyterian Medical Services Athlete of the Week: Kjani Anitielu
Junior captain Kjani Anitielu of the Farmington Lady Scorpions has wasted no time making her presence known this basketball season. Opening the year with four games in five days on the road, Kjani demonstrated why she’s a leader on and off the court. Scoring over 50 points across the stretch, she averaged 2.5 steals per game, turning defensive plays into fast-break points. Adding to her standout performance were averages of 6 rebounds and 6 assists per game, showcasing her all-around impact.
With her older sisters now playing college basketball, Kjani is stepping confidently into the spotlight. Though she follows in their footsteps, she’s forging her own legacy at Farmington High School. “Kjani has really blossomed in her junior year,” said Lady Scorpions Head Coach Tom Adare. “She’s been a terrific leader. She knows the names of all our C-team and JV players and encourages every one of her teammates. It’s been a pleasure coaching her.”
Kjani’s leadership and stellar play helped the Lady Scorpions bring home the championship at the Santa Fe Tournament this past weekend, earning her the Tournament MVP honors. Under her guidance, the Scorpions claimed the coveted blue trophy, a promising start to what looks to be a memorable season.
The season is early, but Kjani will make her mark. I won’t be surprised if she’s named Athlete of the Week again before the season wraps up in March.”
Congratulations to Kjani Anitielu, the Presbyterian Medical Services Athlete of the Week! Keep an eye on this dynamic junior as she continues to shine for the Farmington Lady Scorpions.
