BLOOMFIELD, N.M. — When the Bloomfield Bobcats take the field, senior linebacker Logan Gosnell, known as “Thor,” is a force to be reckoned with. His thunderous hits, relentless energy, and leadership on both sides of the ball have made him a cornerstone of the Bobcats’ undefeated season. This week, Gosnell has been named the Presbyterian Medical Services Athlete of the Week for his exceptional contributions to the team’s success.

Dominating the Defense

As a linebacker, Gosnell has been the heart and soul of Bloomfield’s defense. With 107 total tackles on the season, including 66 solo stops and 3.0 tackles for loss, Gosnell leads a defense that has terrorized opponents all year. His instincts, toughness, and ability to read plays have made him a nightmare for opposing offenses.

“Logan is a wall on defense,” said head coach Mike Kovacs. “Relentless, unshakeable, and the heart of our defense. He’s an outstanding performer and a true gamechanger.”

Defensive Coach Damon Lynch. “Logan is very intelligent student and player. He understands what we are doing in our scheme and works to improving it at practice. Logan is truly the quarterback of defense.”

Gosnell’s impact extends beyond tackling. He has been pivotal in forcing turnovers, with a fumble recovery and key defensive stops in critical moments. His physical presence in the middle of the field has helped the Bobcats limit big plays and dominate late in games.

Offensive Contributions

While Gosnell’s primary role is as a defensive enforcer, he has also shone on offense as a running back. In limited opportunities, he has scored two rushing touchdowns, using his power and determination to barrel through defenders. His ability to step into the backfield and deliver in clutch situations has added a unique dimension to Bloomfield’s already potent offense.

“It’s always fun to get the ball in my hands and contribute to the team in a different way,” said Gosnell. “But no matter what, it’s about doing whatever I can to help us win.”

“Thor” in the Spotlight

Nicknamed “Thor” by his teammates for his strength and larger-than-life presence, Gosnell embraces the role with pride. The nickname not only reflects his physicality but also his leadership, as he rallies his teammates like a Norse god commanding his troops.

“He’s our Thor for a reason,” said his teammates “You feel a little braver lining up next to him because you know he’s going to give everything he’s got.”

More Than an Athlete

Beyond his on-field achievements, Gosnell embodies what it means to be a Bloomfield Bobcat. He’s a leader in the locker room, a mentor to younger players, and a role model in the community.

“Logan represents everything we stand for,” said Kovacs. “Hard work, dedication, and doing the right thing, both on and off the field.

Looking Ahead

With the Bobcats set to play in the 2024 New Mexico 4A State Championship, Gosnell will once again play a crucial role in leading his team to victory. Whether he’s stuffing runs as a linebacker or pounding the ball into the end zone as a running back, “Thor” will undoubtedly leave his mark on the biggest stage.

Congratulations, Logan!

As the Presbyterian Medical Services Athlete of the Week, Logan “Thor” Gosnell exemplifies what it means to rise above and lead with excellence. With the unwavering confidence of Coach Kovacs and the entire Bobcat Nation behind him, Bloomfield looks ready to finish their season as champions.
