Presbyterian Medical Services Athlete of the Week 10/16/2024 Bloomfield Bobcats Senior Linebacker McKell Colbert
In what has become a dominant season for his defense, senior linebacker McKell Colbert helped lead his team to a resounding 42-0 victory over Moriarty, marking the squad’s fifth consecutive shutout of the season. When the offense struggled to find rhythm in the first half, it was the defense, led by Colbert, that shut down Moriarty’s tricky single-wing offense.
McKell was everywhere on the field, leading his team with seven assisted tackles, adding several solo stops, and tallying two crucial sacks. His presence was felt in every play, as he consistently plugged running lanes, disrupted Moriarty’s backfield, and prevented any big gains. Whether reading plays or making game-changing stops, McKell always seems to be in the right place at the right time.
Colbert’s performance not only earned him the title of Presbyterian Athlete of the Week, but we are also titling him Defensive Player of the Week in San Juan County. His leadership on the field has been a cornerstone for his team’s defense, which has stifled opposing offenses week after week.
His coach, Mike Kovacs, had high praise for his senior linebacker:
“McKell is a fantastic player, leader, and teammate. He strives weekly to get himself and others better. He competes at a top level week to week. McKell is a true testament to family.”
With his knack for making critical plays and his ability to inspire those around him, McKell Colbert continues to be an indispensable leader for his team’s defense. As they aim for more victories, Colbert’s presence will undoubtedly be key to their success. Congratulations Mckell Colbert for being the Presbyterian Player of the Week
