Presbyterian Medical Services Athlete of the Week 10/09/2024 Piedra Vista Panthers Kelsi Brown

This week, the Presbyterian Medical Services Athlete of the Week honors go to Kelsi Brown, a Senior Setter for Piedra Vista Volleyball. Kelsi has played a crucial role in the Panthers’ impressive 10-3 record, orchestrating the team’s offense with precision and leadership. With 327 assists and 100 digs this season, she is not only above the national average in nearly every statistical category but also the heart and soul of the team both on and off the court.

As a senior captain, Kelsi’s leadership has been invaluable. Her consistency on the court is reflected in how the Panthers respond to her calm and composed style of play. Head Coach Rebekah Caliendo shared her thoughts on Kelsi’s exceptional season, saying, “Kelsi is our senior setter as well as our team captain. Her teammates voted her as captain for her great leadership skills and commitment to the team. Kelsi has shown exceptional improvement this year, particularly in her defensive play. She never gives up—she’ll run across the gym if she has to. I’m proud of how far she’s come.”

This past week, Kelsi showcased her talent in matches against Gallup and Eldorado. Against Gallup, she recorded 26 assists, 10 digs, and 1 ace, while her performance against Eldorado featured 31 assists and 17 digs. Her hustle, quick decision-making, and strategic ball placement have been instrumental in the Panthers’ success, and her hard work is paving the way as the team heads into district play.

But Kelsi’s impact goes beyond volleyball. Off the court, her infectious smile and positive energy have earned her a special place among her peers, and this past week, she was crowned Piedra Vista’s Homecoming Queen, adding yet another highlight to her memorable senior year.

Congratulations to Kelsi Brown on her outstanding achievements and for being a true leader for the Piedra Vista Panthers. Her ability to balance her role as a setter, leader, and friend embodies the spirit of the Presbyterian Medical Services Athlete of the Week. Best of luck to Kelsi and the Panthers as they continue their season!
