Presbyterian Medical Services Athlete of the Week: Peyton Duncan, Junior Running Back and Defensive Back for Bloomfield Bobcats
Peyton Duncan, the senior wide receiver and defensive back for the Bloomfield Bobcats, delivered a standout performance in last week’s dominant 55-0 victory over the Taos Tigers, earning him the honor of being named the Presbyterian Medical Services Athlete of the Week. Peyton showcased his versatility, contributing in all phases of the game and amassing 295 all-purpose yards in a career-best outing.
The game started with a thrilling moment as Peyton came through in a clutch situation on the Bobcats’ opening drive. Facing a daunting 4th and 16, quarterback Blake Spencer found Peyton with a 54-yard pass, and Duncan made the most of it, juking past multiple defenders to reach the end zone and give Bloomfield an early lead.
On the next series, the Taos Tigers were forced to punt after going three-and-out, and Peyton was ready to strike again. Fielding the punt, he allowed his teammates to set a perfect blocking wall, which he used to break loose for his second touchdown of the game.
Peyton’s impact wasn’t limited to offense and special teams. Late in the game, Duncan intercepted a pass from the Taos quarterback and returned it 53 yards, setting up another Bobcats touchdown.
Coach Mike Kovacs had nothing but praise for his star athlete: “Peyton is one of those dynamic players that is versatile on offense and defense and explosive at times. He’s got a great attitude, is a great teammate, and believes in the program. He’s a great all-around individual at school, in practice, and at home.”
With his leadership and electrifying playmaking ability, Peyton Duncan continues to be a key force for the Bobcats, and his performance this week is a testament to his hard work and dedication both on and off the field.
