In a matchup showcasing the sheer dominance of the #2 Navajo Prep Lady Eagles’ defense, the Zuni Thunderbirds faced a formidable challenge on their home court. From the opening whistle, it was evident that the Eagles were not willing to give an inch, stifling the Thunderbirds and allowing only 2 points in the first quarter.

With an impeccable defensive performance and adeptly capitalizing on turnovers, Navajo Prep surged to a commanding 22-2 lead, putting the game out of reach early on. Although the scoring pace slowed for the Eagles as the game progressed, they maintained a comfortable advantage, leading 39-15 at halftime.

Despite the slowdown, Navajo Prep’s offense remained well-rounded, showcasing their teamwork and cohesion. Eleven players contributed points, exemplifying the depth and versatility of the team. Coach Crisp commended the team’s performance, acknowledging their hard work and the impact of practice adjustments on game outcomes.

Leading the charge for the Eagles were Tru Billie with 13 points, followed by Lailah McGary with 10, Aniya Johnson with 9, and Kambreya Dinae with 8. With this victory, Navajo Prep improves to an impressive 7-1 in district play.

Meanwhile, #1-ranked Tohatchi maintained their position atop the district standings with a decisive 66-25 win over Thoreau. With four games remaining in district play, including a highly anticipated matchup against Tohatchi on February 24th, the Eagles continue to strive for excellence and peak performance.
